A few days ago I got a memory stick whose case had broken. Naturally, I didn't expect it to last long without its protective covering. So I had an idea. Why not just take a ton of hot glue and encase the circuitry in it? That's exactly what I did, which resulted in a waterproof, durable flash drive that is going to last much much longer than it would have otherwise. The Process is really simple and took me less than five minutes.
Flash drive and hot glue. That's all you need to do this. Hold the flash drive by the plug and apply an obscene amount of hot glue to one side, ensuring that you wedge it into every nook and cranny that you can find on the device. Once you have it on, it helps to keep flipping it upside down and back so the glue won't drip as it cools. Once that side is dry, repeat the same way on the other side. Also, to help ensure it's sealed take the tip of the glue gun and melt around the edges. The result will look like this.
Although this is a pretty ghetto repair, it's better than having it naked. Also, the hot glue will shrink, which could potentially damage the drive, but for me it's worked out fine. Feel free to comment this on my blog.
